Hon Anamero: The Promise Keeper

Hon Anamero: The Promise Keeper

“People with good intentions make promises. People with character keep them.”

Oladimeji K. Afolabi.

There is no better time to ensure that people of character become our political leaders than now. The challenges are enormous, poverty is ravaging, our communities are faced with man-made and natural disasters, there is hunger, a deficit of infrastructure, high child mortality, inflation is at an all-time high, roads are at a deplorable state, brain drain- where we lose some of the best experts in different sectors to developed nations, insecurity- where kidnapping has become a menace, poor access to potable water in many communities, poor access to electricity, inadequate housing, unemployment- which is a major cause of youth unrest and criminality in the society. The challenges that face us are too numerous to count.

As the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu said ‘the challenges are enormous but not insurmountable’. Hon Dekeri Sunday Anamero is a man of impeccable character who has the ability, capacity, competence, and track record to help Edo State surmount her challenges.

Hon Dekeri Sunday Anamero aka DANCO is the present Honourable representing the good people of Etsako federal constituency in the Federal House of Representative. His constituents have been enjoying his good works and representation in the green chamber since he was sworn in with his colleagues on the 13th of June, 2023. In barely six months Danco has been fulfilling his campaign promises to his people, just recently he distributed 500,000 exercise books to students, He made 32 people chosen from each ward in his constituency millionaires thereby empowering them to invest and create wealth which will create a multiplier effect in the constituency. The erection of 3 blocks of 30 units of open market stores for the good people of South Ibie in Etsako West local government is also in fulfillment of his electoral promises.

He has also been an active member of the lower chamber moving people-centric motions on the floor of the house which include the motion to urge the federal government to declare enrollment for the 2023 WAEC free for all students as a palliative for the oil subsidy removal. He also moved a motion on the urgent need to stem the rising cases of environmental degradation in the Etsako Federal constituency. Hon Dekeri has also sponsored two bills; one is for the establishment of Federal Medical Centre, Uluoke, Edo state and the second seeks to establish a Federal College of Technical Education, Okpella, Edo state. Both of which have passed the first reading.

Hon. Dekeri has been a loyal party man supporting the party with effort and resources. He is a team player who believes in party supremacy and comradeship. He has results to show for his popularity amongst his people going by his overwhelming victory in the election that made him the federal representative of his constituency. It is also important to note that the incumbent President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu won only Edo North in Edo state in the Presidential election that made him President.

In light of his achievement barely 6 months into his tenure as a federal representative, and his antecedent as a promise-keeper and a team player, I believe that all well-meaning APC party faithful must join hands and support the aspirations of Hon. Dekeri Sunday Anamero to become the official flagbearer of the APC for the Edo 2024 gubernatorial elections.
